Davidson County: Extra officers assigned to graduations

A special nine-officer task force has been assigned to cover Metro schools graduation ceremonies, which began Thursday and run through May 24. The group consists of one school resource sergeant, one gang unit detective, one youth services detective and six flexible-assignment officers. The group started work on May 7 and is also assigned to make sure the school year closes smoothly by patrolling high schools and middle schools during lunch and at the end of the day. The task force adds to the 70 officers assigned throughout the year to patrol schools, according to police. — JAIME SARRIOjsarrio@tennessean.com
