Davidson County Election Postponed Two Weeks

Channel 5 News Posted: May 03, 2010 12:40 PM CDT NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Davidson County Election Commission voted Monday to delay Tuesday's election for two weeks. The commission discussed the pros and cons of postponing the vote. Nearly 500 voting machines had already been delivered to voting sites across Davidson County. The machines will need to be taken back to election headquarters to be reprogrammed. Staff said it will be necessary especially since some polling sites are under water and machines are likely damaged. Davidson County Election Commission They said with so many people dealing with flooding, Tuesday is not the time to ask voters to go to the polls, and the candidates agree. The commission voted to setup six additional voting sites that will serve as backup just in case the original sites are not yet open.
