Hands On Nashville Partners with Nike to Donate Salvaged Opry Mills Merchandise to Flood Victums
Hands On Nashville partnered with Nike and Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) to distribute 40,000 pieces of Nike apparel to flood victims on May 28. The merchandise was salvaged from the Opry Mills Nike Factory Store, which was damaged by the flood in early May. MNPS students, faculty, and their families, along with other impacted households invited by Catholic Charities of Tennessee, St. Paul A.M.E. Church, and Bellevue Church of Christ visited the McGavock Elementary School gymnasium and selected merchandise from the pop-up Nike store. More than 100 Hands On Nashville volunteers distributed the items along with Nike staff. FEMA Voluntary Agency Liaisons were onsite to provide information. In addition to their merchandise donation, Nike contributed $50,000 to Hands On Nashville’s flood relief efforts.
