Tennessee Bureau of Investigation report out this morning says campus crime was up about 9 percent in 2009, the first increase in five years.
The biggest reason given by universities, it said, was increased enrollment prompted by the recession.
Here are some highlights:
* Most of the crimes were theft or larceny -- 38.5 percent.
* Drug violations were up 16 percent.
* Fraud was up 75 percent.
* Rapes increased from 12 in 2008 to 17 in 2009
