Metro schools to close Friday due to cold

By COLBY SLEDGE • THE TENNESSEAN • January 15, 2009 Metro Nashville Public Schools will close Friday due to forecasts of extreme cold, the district announced today. In a news release, the school district cited temperature forecasts as low as 0 degrees Fahrenheit during the morning, when students would be waiting for buses or walking to school. The district has closed in the past due to extreme temperatures, including for extreme heat in 2007.The closing will result in a four-day weekend, as schools will also be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.Check back at Tennessean.com for more info.
