Police say restaurant shooting linked to illegal drug activity
WKRN Channel 2 News
Sunday night's fatal shooting outside an Antioch restaurant is believed to be connected to illegal drug activity, Metro police said Monday.
Gordon Travis Garrett, of Smyrna, was eating at the Casa Fiesta restaurant located at 1111 Bell Road with his girlfriend and baby when he received a message, which led him to walk outside.
Once outside, police said he was approached by a newer model white Ford Mustang and was shot in the parking lot.
Customers inside heard the gunfire and called police.
Garrett, 26, was taken to Southern Hills Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
No one else at the restaurant was injured.
Garrett was convicted in August 2007 of felony possession of cocaine for resale and received an eight year sentence.
In addition, he was charged in July with possessing cocaine within a school zone.
He was on probation when he was killed.
Police are investigating.
Anyone with information on Garrett's murder is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
