"Shooting Investigation Turns Into Homicide"

An investigation into a shooting Wednesday night near Murfreesboro Road has now turned into a homicide. Police say the victim in that shooting died at Vanderbilt Medical Center. They say the shooting happened around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at 43 University Court, which is just south of downtown. Authorities say an officer was called to University Court around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. Shots were fired after police left the area. The officer returned to the scene and noticed a blue car driving down the road, riddled with bullets. The officer then stopped the car at 1st Avenue South and Lafayette Street. ... Police say there were several people in the car, but only one person was shot. The victim was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he later died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
